HIGH CHIEF (DR.) O. B. LULU-BRIGGS DEATH: MORE REVELATIONS IN GHANA

MP, Korle-Bu, Airport Clinic & Others In Trouble Over Nigerian Billionaire’s Bizarre Death

The fierce fight over the death and mortal remains of one of Nigeria’s prominent business moguls, philanthropist and statesmen, Chief Benson Lulu-Briggs, whose body is stuck in Ghana, and yet to be buried as a result of the quest to establish how he died, has taken an interesting turn with the name of Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, popping up.

The claim against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is that,  he had influenced a colleague medical doctor at the Airport Clinic by name; Killian Boampong-Konam, to declare the 88-year old Nigerian, as having died through natural means.

Kilian’s unprofessional conduct, is also now part of an international investigation, involving Ghana Police and Nigerian Police, as well as, Interpol, since it is not clear ,where Benson Lulu-Briggs, whose corpse is currently at the Transition Funeral Home Haatso, Accra, died.

His wife Dr. (Mrs.) Seinye Lulu-Brigg, had rushed the deceased in an ambulance belonging to the Airport Clinic from the tarmac of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on  December 27, 2018, in an unconscious state from a chartered aircraft, which had flown the couple and others, including his private nurse to Ghana to celebrate Christmas with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, but Chief Lulu-Briggs, could not get to his Trassaco Valley Estate home here in Ghana, as he was pronounced dead few hours later.

His three senior children namely; Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Senibo Lulu-Briggs, Sofiri-Lulu-Briggs, are not sure whether their beloved father, died in Nigeria before being put on the aircraft, or died on board the aircraft or died here in Ghana, as claimed by his widow.

They are also disputing “Cardiac Arrest” as the cause of death of their father, which was issued by Dr. Boampong-Konam, the Medical Director of the Airport Clinic.

Their suspicion over Benson Lulu-Briggs death, is reinforce by the fact that, officials at the Airport Clinic, including Dr. Boampong-Konam, did not report the case to the Airport Police before proceeding to issue a death certificate dated  December 28, 2018;  a day after pronouncing their father died.

Dr. Boampong-Konam, is said to have mentioned Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, New Patriotic Party  (NPP)MP for Ledzokuku Constituency to team of investigators from Ghana, Nigeria and Interpol, as the one who called him on phone and pushed him to declare Chief Lulu-Briggs, as having died from a natural cause and handed over the corpse to his widow.

Strangely, Dr. Boampong-Konam’s name on the death certificate is captured as Killian Boampong-Konadu, different from what Airport Clinic, has in their records.

Another strange thing is that, the death certificate was issued by Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, is the Board Chairman, and there are suspicions he might have influenced the death certificate, using his connection to the nation’s premier hospital.

More bizarre, are report that last Thursday, a Pathologist again from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Lawrence Adusei, stormed the 37 Military Hospital to carry out an autopsy against a court directive, which asked a particular pathologist to do.

This has forced the High Chief, O.B. Lulu-Briggs’ three oldest sons, to finally break their silence, since their deceased father’s “untimely death upon arrival or before arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra under bizarre circumstances”.

In an interview with the sons to hear their side of the story published by the stepmother, Mrs. Seinye Lulu-Briggs, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chief of the Lulu-Briggs family of the Abonema, Port Harcourt in the Rivers State of Nigeria told The Herald, that the family, had seen their father the day before his trip to Accra and he looked quite well.

They were not told that their stepmother had planned to bring their ailing father to Accra on a purported Christmas vacation. They also discovered that their father, in spite of being sick, was locked up in chartered aircraft together with some others persons, for five hours at the Port Harcourt Airport, under the pretext of waiting for a landing permit to travel to Accra.

“We had since found that there was indeed, a landing permit issued with estimated time of arrival put at 1pm, Ghana time”. The trip from Nigeria to Ghana is about 45 minutes, however, Dr. Boampong-Konam in a medical report mentioned that the 88-year late founder and chairman of Moni Pulo Limited, an oil exploration and production company, was brought to the Airport Clinic at 6:42pm and “was confirmed clinically dead at about 6:57pm” – some 15 minutes after arrival.

The family’s concern, has been that their stepmother surreptitiously travelled with their deceased father to Accra, without as much a medical clearance to travel.

Also, after their stepmother realized that her husband had passed, upon arrival in Accra, she failed to report the matter to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), or the Ghana Airports Authority Limited, and neither to airport police station for a Coroner’s inquest to be conducted as required by the laws of Ghana, considering that her husband, died outside of a medical facility.

Rather, she procured a medical cause of death certificate to be quickly issued, deposited the body of the deceased at Transitions Funeral Home and procured a permit to export the body of the deceased without the consent of the family of the deceased.

The family, considering that their stepmother, had a few years prior, withdrawn their father’s medication under the pretext that he had been healed, which led to their father being unable to speak or walk, were very worried about the behaviour of their step mother.

They were even more concerned when the widow, contrary to their native law and custom, refused to hand over the mortuary receipts and medical cause of the death certificate to the family, thus preventing the family of the deceased from taking the body, and had a memorial service for the deceased in Accra, without the consent of the family of the deceased.

The principal members of the family, reported the matter to the Nigeria police, who commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the death of High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs.

The Nigerian Police Force, through Interpol, came to Ghana to seek the assistance of the Ghana Police Service, CID to investigate the death of High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs.

The Ghana Police, obtained an order to conduct an autopsy on the deceased on Friday  July 12, 2019, which autopsy was frustrated by lawyers for the widow, Kimathi and Partners, as well as Transitions Funeral Home.

The Ghana police set another date for the autopsy and informed the parties at a meeting, which was subsequently confirmed by a letter dated July 15, 2019.

The contents of the letter issued by the Ghana Police, was to the effect that the autopsy would be done at 37 Military Hospital and among other things, that three sets of samples, would be taken from the deceased for further testing, each party (the police, the widow and the principal members of the family) getting one sample each.

On Thursday, July 18, 2019, following an application to the Court, the High Court, Accra presided over by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, adopted the agreement of the parties as the Order of the Court, which said Order among other things, confirmed that three sets of samples for examination would be taken during the autopsy and the Police, shall take one sample, while the two parties would also take one each if so requested.

But contrary to the court order, in a rather bizarre twist of events, the autopsy was conducted by a certain Dr. Lawrence Adusei, an intruder, an interloper, instead of the named Col. (Dr.) Attoh.

The Herald is informed that Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, a former Head of the Department of Pathology in the University of Ghana Medical School, was to present on behalf of the family, but felt restraint by Dr. Lawrence Adusei, famously remembered for carrying out the autopsy on the murdered MP JB Danquah, but failed to submit a report.

Again, Dr. Lawrence Adusei, in blatant disregard for the said Court Order, did not only refuse to take three (3) samples for examination, but also emphatically denied the parties’ request for a sample.

This means the autopsy was conducted in blatant breach of the aforesaid Court Order. The principal members of the family, have since petitioned the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, regarding the credibility of the autopsy.

The lawyer for the principal members of the family, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah Esq., upon receiving the information that the widow was planning to take the corpse outside of Ghana, and outside the reach of the family members of the deceased, immediately after the autopsy, applied for an order of injunction restraining the widow from perpetrating such an unlawful action in Ghana.

The Herald’s information is that, the principal members of the family ,have reached out to the widow, through her lawyers, to resolve the issues, so that they can arrange to take the mortal remains of their late father and her husband, organise a befitting burial for him, as soon as possible, the response of the widow, has been two writs of summons and a motion for Injunction issued against the Chief of the family, and the older sons of the deceased.

The matter continues in the High Court, Accra to determine, who is the proper party, to take the body of the deceased for burial.

Meanwhile, the investigation of the Ghana Police Service, the Nigerian Police Force and Interpol, continues in order to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of High Chief O.B. Lulu-Briggs.

When The Herald reached the CID boss, Maame YaaTiwaa Addo-Danquah, she confirmed the ongoing investigations.

She also revealed that she was waiting for the autopsy report from the pathologist. The CID boss again confirmed the family’s claim that Col. (Dr.) Attoh of the 37 Military Hospital, was to do the autopsy and not Dr. Lawrence Adusei of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

ABOUT MY FATHER’S DEATH, ALL WE DEMAND IS THE TRUTH.

To start with, there is no autopsy report yet. NONE WHATSOEVER.

So where my father’s wife got her report of no violent death must be that she knows what even the Nigeria Police, Ghana Police and Interpol does not know yet. That in itself should be subject of an investigation. Even the notorious interloper, Dr Lawrence Adusie has not tried to voice a comment since after the abracadabra. If my late father’s wife has knowledge of any autopsy report as I write, it must be one she authored because I have not seen any report. And by the way, that a death was unnatural does not necessarily mean it was violent. Isn’t someone trying, as usual, to be smart here? All the parties agreed and it formed part of a High Court of Ghana Consent Order that seven months after the death was hidden from the police in Ghana and the mortal remains of my father was deposited in a morgue in Accra, only laboratory tests run from tissue samples taken from the body could reveal a conclusive outcome. As such, samples must be given to the police in Nigeria and Ghana investigating the matter and also to the parties in the matter.. Unfortunately, an interloper took over the entire exercise, sent out both the Ghana and Nigeria police pathologists, thereby precluding them from even observing the autopsy in an investigation by the police, and refuses to take samples for the police nor give samples to the parties yet someone is pretending to be jubilating.

Now cause of death is one issue, place and time of death is another? Did our father die in Accra or he died in Nigeria? If he died in Nigeria, who kidnapped the corpse to Ghana? If, as my father’s wife now claim that as they arrived Accra aboard the charter aircraft they suddenly discovered that our father was completely motionless, did she alert the police? How was she able to get an ambulance to take the dead body out of the Accra airport without a record to the police, immigration or airport authorities in Accra, Ghana? Did she breach the security in Ghana and Nigeria? These are some of the issues.

Calling Chief Dumo O.B.Lulu-Briggs a bad name is just a distraction that can never hide or trump the issues. They can continue to be smart but the 99days for the thief is running out, the one day for the owner is just around the corner. The owner here is the law and it has a long arm.

In the over 5 hours she kept him at the PH International airport, inside an aircraft with the charter aircraft doors locked so that no one could go in or come out, what were they doing inside? He had a tracheostomy tube inserted in his throat, he was 88years old, yet his wife had no pity on him, she had him holed up in an aircraft that was completely motionless, going no where for upwards of five hours yet claims to be surprised that our father too was completely motionless as they arrived Accra? What kind of inhuman treatment to a man that was kindness personified. In all of those hours, more than 6hours just to fly from Port Harcourt to Accra that is just an hour, no one attended to him, as they claimed he was sleeping all of that time. He made no sound. Of course only the living make sounds. So was he alive or already dead? The Law has a long arm. I wont stop asking questions because in addition to being a great Nigerian, he was my beloved father. You would do the same if you had on my shoes.

I was asking the questions quietly and privately but those who have murdered sleep and could therefore not find sleep thought it was best to malign me publicly. Now the public has opportunity of hearing the other side. The peace that cometh from justice SHALL PREVAIL.

CHILDREN, THE HOPE OF OUR NATION FOR A BETTER FUTURE

Children are special gifts from God, and in them we find our main essence as fathers, mothers and guardians. They bring into our homes unconditional love, laughter, and joy.
They are the light that brightens up our path and reinforces our hope for a fulfilling future.

Today like other beautiful days, let us celebrate our wonderful kids and pray for their progress in all aspects of life.

Let us also remember the other children in our society who live in penury; who have nothing to eat. Some are without parents or guardians, they survive on the streets, they are abused and trafficked. We must play even a small part in helping to alleviate those common problems that make our children very vulnerable.

Our children are the most affected by the scourge of poverty in our country. Many are handicapped and face severe discrimination in our society. A lot, especially those who live in rural areas are exposed to high risk of early death due to very poor sewage systems, lack of portable water and sorely deficient healthcare services.

As we celebrate the Children’s Day today, 27th May 2019, let me resound the message that healthcare is too precious to be left to chance, it is too central to life to be left to wealth. Access to treatment should be based on one’s clinical need and not on one’s ability to pay. It is sad that in the midst of abundance, children still go to bed hungry and grow up illiterate. I believe that those children on the streets did not choose to be born into such destitution, so, we cannot abandon them to their fate and leave a breeding ground for violent machinations.

As a nation, let us wake up to the need of making the right to education enforceable. Let us rise up to the task of equipping our children with the tools they need to succeed and survive in this highly competitive 21st century. In our individual homes, may we never relent in our responsibilities of showing them the path to greatness and aiding them accordingly. Together, may we never get tired of making both moral and material contributions and supporting policies that will favor the growth and development of the children.

God bless the Children and God bless our great Nation, Nigeria.

Happy Children’s Day.

A POSTHUMOUS BIRTHDAY GREETING TO MY FATHER, THE GREAT HIGH CHIEF (DR) O.B. LULU-BRIGGS

My dear great father of blessed memory, your departure to eternity fills me with much heartache, but your wonderful memories and legacy leave me with hope that you are already in heaven. You taught me that in life, challenges are inevitable but that what must remain constant in me is the belief that I have the innate strength to surmount them.

Beyond words, your journey of life is a comprehensive example of victory over hard times through faith in God, vision, and hard-work. How do I measure the stock of motivation and inspiration I have received from a loving dad through his wonderful lifestyle of love and charity, spoken words of wisdom and peace, and courageous actions of order and progress.

Dad, on this day the 22nd of May in the year 1930, the Almighty God gave you to mankind. Indeed, you lived well and departed this world on Friday, 28 of December, 2018. Father, on that day of your transition, I lost not only a father, but a friend and an idol that I looked up to.

My dear Daddy, I will always treasure all the wonderful memories we shared. While your death will forever cloud the sky with the awe of your loss, your life will always be a vivid one, epitomizing greatness, self sacrifice and hope for the living.

ACCORD IS THE FASTEST GROWING PARTY IN RIVERS STATE; ITS CANDIDATE IS THE MOST POPULAR AND MOST LOVED POLITICIAN IN THE STATE ~ Dason

In an article titled ‘Why Wike is afraid of Lulu-Briggs’ published on the Nation’s Newspaper on 12th January, 2019, the spokesman for Dumo Lulu-Briggs Campaign Organization, Mr. Dason Nemieboka declared that Accord is the fastest growing party in Rivers State and that its candidate is the most popular and most loved.

He made this bold declaration while fielding questions from reporters on what seems like an intraparty crisis but which the party’s national leadership has consistently described as a non-issue given some available and glaring facts.

On what he thinks about the claimant’s position, he said, “Sincerely, we would have ignored this completely if we were operating in a different clime. However, with the Nigerian politician, you know that there can be an attempt to blindfold even God. Our preliminary findings and the inconsistency of the claimant points to the fact that he is serving an interest beyond his comprehension. If and when we are duly served the court processes, we shall respond adequately. However, I am certain that the only beneficiary of this distractive tactics would be the judiciary and the press.”

“Both the claimant and his paymasters would discover that these distractive blocks thrown at Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs will become building blocks and steps to victory.”

“The truth is that, the sponsors would be shocked that their very effort at distracting the focused Accord Party and her credible governorship candidate would be the reason why even their members, including commissioners, would flood the Accord party soon.”

“Chief Lulu Briggs is focused on his work. He is disturbed that Rivers people would continue to tolerate bad leadership until May 28. He is disturbed that the people would live under selfish rulers for the period but not whether the judiciary would stoop to be used by accidental powerful men. He has never doubted the courage and integrity of the courts, he knows that once a judge looks into the case he would throw it out and award cost against the plaintiff, for attempting to manipulate the law to get what he doesn’t deserve. Our judges are wise.”

To clear the air on whether or not Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs is dodging service of court papers as being alleged by the claimant, Mr. Dason described such claim as laughable, and stated thus, “Chief Dumo is clearly the most accessible governorship candidate in Rivers State. We are not going to apply dirty tricks because flooring the incumbent on March 2nd is a rather simple task. Anyone who claims that he couldn’t serve processes is economical with the truth. I think that is the agenda create false impressions in an attempt to mislead voters.”

“We know what they are up to and we shall shock them. I think rather than ask a man who is sacrificing to liberate us, we should ask our political tormentors why they are attempting to block the only true challenger they have Their tormentors are those who have vowed to arrest massive development in Rivers State, those who spend hundreds of billions of our commonwealth without recourse to any budget. Those who rule by spreading fear and insecurity, instead of curbing it.”

“They are those who forced themselves on Rivers people and are now worried that God has sent a man to deliver, liberate and stimulate blessings. It is clear that they are afraid of any fair contest. They fear that the dwindling public image can’t secure electoral victory. They are afraid of Dumo Lulu Briggs’ towering personality, hence the attempt to get him out of the race by the back door. Governor Wike clearly dreads a contest against Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs.”

To answer the question on why the party’s Flagbearer is considered a threat when there are countless others, he said, “Do not tell me about scores of political parties or candidates, for us in Rivers State the choice is between going in one accord which is the new and better order, and continuing in the dark days of primitive rulership. Accord is the fastest growing party in Rivers State. The candidate is the most popular and most loved politician in the state and other parties are losing members daily to Accord. So why won’t a desperate party attempt to stop Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs and the Accord party in Rivers State, where a governor would build a motor park and invite angels to commission.”

“Rivers people seek an exposed and compassionate leader who knows the people. They want Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs and so Governor Wike knows that he will be an ex-governor as long as Dumo is on the ballot. DLB as they call him is creating jobs even as a private citizen, he is reducing poverty, and he is educating indigent students in the LGAs. He plans to develop multiple streams of income for the state; tourism, agriculture and industrialization would be the highpoints of the incoming administration. We are worried that Rivers State has the highest rate of unemployment and the current administration is sitting pretty playing politics and seeking to pull down the credible contenders.”

Since the emergence of DUMO LULU-BRIGGS as its candidate, Accord party has in recent time sent a massive shockwave to the Rivers State politcal landscape. And political actors and observers have alluded to the fact that the incumbent governor of the state is the most troubled by the Dumo/Accord tremor. Emerging Pictorial evidences have also given credence to the position that the claimant, Mr. Precious Baridoo is merely a tool meant for creating a perception of crisis to kill the Accord momentum.

RIVERS APC WOMEN STAKEHOLDERS SUMMIT

WOMEN SHOULD NOT BE LIMITED BY PERCENTAGES
– Dumo Lulu-Briggs

It was an epoch making event; an APC Women Summit tagged “Women in democracy: Harnessing the strength for National development. The great event was held at the newly commissioned APC Rivers State party secretariat along Aba Road, Port Harcourt, on Saturday the 28th of July, 2018.

The mind rejuvenating summit which was centered on the popular and recurring subject of women in politics, challenges and benefits, had in attendance the very respected women of the All Progressives Congress drawn from across the country, accompanied by selected great men of the party in the state. Leading the women was the National Women leader of the party; Hajia Salamatu Baiwa who admonished women to work even harder than men if they must occupy their desired place of importance in the polity and in every other aspect of life.

The summit was declared open by the great mother of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of the Federal Minister for Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. In her very articulate and concise keynote address, she briefly highlighted some of her achievements in the area of Gender Democracy as the First Lady of Rivers State at the time, and commended her dear husband who also made deliberate efforts in balancing political appointments in public service. The wife of the Minister stated emphatically that there’s no nation without women and advised Nigerian women to unitedly mobilize themselves for the actualization of their collective aspirations. She thanked the wife of the president, Hajia Aisha Buhari who has done so much for women and for the less privileged in Nigeria.

In a paper delivered by Hon. Mrs. Maureen Tamuno, seven factors were itemized as the challenges hampering women participation in politics and governance in Nigeria. They include:

1. Discriminatory sociocultural practices.
2. Under representation of women in politics.
3. Insufficient financial resources.
4. Unhealthy political environment.
5. False perception of women in politics.
6. Origin of women aspirants.
7. Lack of education.

The event also witnessed goodwill messages from other high profile party women and men including the ever vibrant chairman of the party, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree who advised the women to rise up to the challenges of National development., Hon. Victoria Nyeche, Hon. Joeba West and other respected and distinguished personalities who also inspired the women with words of wisdom.

In an interview granted at the venue of the event, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs corroborated the women’s position of being vital to political development and governance, with a bolder statement in which he declared that percentage affirmations are limiting to women. He opined that women should rather be considered for active participation and engagements on the basis of individual capacities and qualifications.

Other dignitaries at the event include:
Madam Joi Nuneih, Chairman, Center for women development.

Hon Victor Giadom, deputy National secretary of APC and his beautiful wife, Mrs Esther Giadom.

Chief Emeka Beke, State Secretary, APC Rivers State.

Evang. Caroline Nagbo, State Women leader, APC Rivers State.

Engr. Sampson Ngerebara, President General, Free Rivers Development Initiative.

Hon Aso Wenah, Former Liaison Officer, Rivers State Liaison Office, Abuja

Mrs. Ndidi Odili, and many others.

It wasn’t all about talks; the music makers were on ground and did a wondrous delivery of thunderous melodies that enveloped the atmosphere with jubilant ecstasy. Not even the wife of the minister was spared in that magnetic singspiration and dance attraction. It was indeed a summit with the touch of family reunion and a hearty celebration.
